“Great theatre is about challenging how we think and encouraging us to fantasize about a world we aspire to.”

“That’s what our workcan do; we remindpeoplethat things can change, that wounds can heal, that people can be forgiven, and that closed heartscan open again.”

About Us

We are a new Theatre company formed from the teachings of the great American practitioners Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Susan Batson and inspired by the ground breaking, paradigm shifting work of the Group Theatre of the 1930's which birthed the modern concept of truthful acting.

All members of ‘Pocket of Light’ are trained and continue to train in the Meisner and Method techniques at The Actor's Craft. These techniques represent the culmination of over 140 years of evolution and codification in an attempt to create deeper, realer more human performances.

What defines us is our commitment to the craft of acting and our daily pursuit to improve as artists as we seek to create work which profoundly impacts the audience to effect meaningful change in people and the world beyond.

Our intent can be summed up by one moment in theatre history...the staging of Clifford Odets's 'Waiting for Lefty' in 1935 which dealt with the abuse of the working man, poverty, unionism and the rights of the individual during the Depression. In the climax, the workers rally to strike, raising their fists and yelling "Strike! Strike! Strike! In a moment of symbiotic felt truth and passion the audience leapt to their feet and began chanting "Strike! Strike! Strike!" This is theatre...this is the power of truth; this is what we hope to incite in our audiences...passion to live, to question the world around them, to fight the good fight, to stand for truth and justice...to shout "I'm as angry as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore".
